iPad

Students enrolled in Faulkner University's traditional program at the main campus received an Apple iPad in the fall of 2012 (see iPad FAQs for more detailed information). The iPad is currently deployed in many higher education institutions across the United States and is changing the learning environment for many faculty and students. Faulkner University intends to utilize the iPad to inspire creative learning in and outside of the classroom. A few of the features the University is particularly excited about incorporating into the learning environment include:

According to Apple as of February 29, 2012, there are more than 20,000 educational apps available for the iPad. The iPad comes with many built-in apps, and thousands more are available from the App Store, including interactive study aids and productivity tools.

The iPad provides students with mobile access to entire libraries, including many of the online research databases offered by Faulkner University's Gus Nichols Library.

Many of the e-textbook offerings include interactive images, 3D graphics, and other features that will encourage student learning and engagement across disciplines.

Faulkner University's faculty members are also equipped with an Apple iPad. This will allow greater collaboration between the professor and students inside and outside of the classroom. Faculty members are able to connect the iPad to state-of-the-art projectors and Apple TVs in classrooms throughout Faulkner University. This will create a truly interactive and engaging learning environment.

The opportunities are endless! Faulkner University faculty members received an iPad in the fall semester of 2011 and are currently engaged in a variety of training opportunities to explore the multitude of ways that the iPad may be utilized to enhance the learning experience for Faulkner University students.
