Bachelor of Arts Degree in English - Secondary Education

As an education major, you have the power to ignite a lifelong love for learning, and it enables you to travel on a fulfilling journey that not only has the power to transform the lives of your students, but also your own. Our faculty seeks to reaffirm Christian ideals through the study of great writers, reading, writing, and discussion.

Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education

The University's core curriculum, professional education studies, and elementary teaching fields areas encompass this comprehensive education program. Through classwork and field placements in the tri-county area, students prepare for a career in education.

Bachelor of Science in Social Science - Secondary Education

As an education major, you have the power to ignite a lifelong love for learning, and it enables you to travel on a fulfilling journey that not only has the power to transform the lives of your students, but also your own. Our faculty seeks to reaffirm Christian ideals through the study of social sciences.

Graduate Degrees & Programs

Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction (non-certification)

Made up of 30 credit hours, this comprehensive program prepares students to lead in and out of the classroom. It includes classwork in five concentration areas and a core curriculum as well as community-based, service-oriented field experience for a well-rounded approach.

Master of Education in Elementary Education

While completing the required 30 credit hours, students prepare for the challenges and rewards of working in the classroom with young students. This program combines classroom instruction through core and content-specific courses and field experience.

Master of Education in Elementary Education - Alternative A

If you have an undergraduate degree in an unrelated field and want to pursue a career in education, this online master's program is for you. Graduates walk away from this program with their master's degree as well as an Alabama Class A teaching certification.

Master of Education in School Counseling

This program prepares students for a career as a school counselor well-versed in social, academic, and family mental health needs. Through 56 hours of instruction plus clinical training, students prepare to work at the elementary, middle, and high school levels in public and private institutions.

Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling

This Clinical Mental Health Counseling program totals 61 hours. Through course work and field experiences, students prepare to work in an array of clinical settings, such as community/state agencies and Christian ministries.

CAEP Accreditation

The College of Education is a CAEP-accredited school of education offering degrees in both undergraduate and graduate degree areas.  We are dedicated to ensuring that our graduates are prepared as highly qualified, dedicated, and reflective practitioners. We pride ourselves in meeting the needs of educators through our curriculum and clinical experiences. The college’s faculty is committed to helping candidates become well-rounded professionals. The faculty members are particularly devoted to guiding candidates in their pursuit of service to the community while also developing their professional skills.

College of Education teacher candidates are often recognized for their scholarly achievements, campus leadership roles, and service to the community. Our candidates represent the true Faulkner spirit in their desire to be servant leaders. Our College of Education alumni have gone on to serve their communities through the field of education in leadership roles at the local, state, and national levels.

The College of Education has strong partnerships with P-12 schools and districts across the River Region. Through the Montgomery Public School System’s community school effort, Faulkner University works in connection with Davis Elementary to support their families with educational, financial, and spiritual needs.
