The Alabama Academy of Science Annual Meeting is a gathering of students and faculty from Alabama colleges, universities and high schools. Students compete in poster and podium presentations, and high school seniors compete for prestigious Gorgas Scholarships. The 2026 meeting will be on the campus of Faulkner University, 5345 Atlanta Hwy, Montgomery, AL 36109.
The Executive Committee Dinner will be Thursday, Feb. 26, with the Senior Academy on Friday, Feb. 27, and Junior Academy of Science Meeting and Gorgas Scholarship Competition on Saturday, Feb. 28.

PAPER AND POSTER COMPETITION AWARDS
All student member paper and poster submissions are automatically entered in the Paper and Poster Competition. The author(s) of the winning papers or posters will be announced and award checks presented at the AAS Annual Banquet. All competition winners are encouraged to publish their papers in the Journal of the Alabama Academy of Science.
Abstract submission is open now through Jan. 15, 2026
You will receive a confirmation email for each submission you make.
Abstracts will be reviewed by the section officers and members of the relevant section.
You will be notified of acceptance within 10 days after submissions close.
The total number of words allowed for the abstract is 250.
Remember, at least one of the authors must be a dues paid member of the Academy.
Posters will be displayed on upright poster display boards. The maximum size is 36 inches wide by 48 inches long. You should choose a portrait orientation for the largest possible print if desired.
