Navy veteran, former AKEEP researcher, honored by Faulkner alumni office

Andre Carter, a 2017 Faulkner graduate was an honored alumni speaker at this year’s Marketplace Faith Friday Forums, sponsored by the Alumni Office for the College of Arts and Sciences’ Social and Behavioral Sciences department.

Carter served as the VISTA grant writer for AmeriCorps in Montgomery, Alabama for the Alabama Korea Education and Economic Partnership, AKEEP. There, he served as a researcher and program developer for grant writing.

From Birmingham, Alabama, Carter served in the United States Navy after high school. After four years in the military, he enrolled at Faulkner University and graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science.

During his time at Faulkner, he interned for the city of Montgomery.

He later completed a master’s in agricultural and resource economics from Tuskegee University in 2019.

He has also written for local magazines such as Black Tie Magazine, co-hosted a web series entitled, “In the City,” a social and political commentary show and is part-owner of the Montgomery Insider, a start up media company.
