EPIC GAMES DESIGNER JOINS FAULKNER’S DIGITAL MEDIA FACULTY

We are excited to announce that Aaron Washington will be joining the Digital Media Department as an Adjunct Professor.

In his full-time role, Washington is a Brand Designer for Epic Games. As a premier interactive entertainment company and 3D engine technology provider, Epic Games operates the popular online video game and gaming platform, Fortnite.

When Washington was a teenager, he made a list that consisted of the companies he wanted to work for as a professional creative designer. As with many kids, the top of the list consisted of world-renowned brands like Marvel, Epic Games, Disney, DC Comics and Industrial Light & Magic.

“Working in entertainment is a wild ride, especially as a creative designer,” said Washington. “You hope, but never know, where you may work next.” He has worked as a designer of various forms of digital media for Horizon Bank, St. Jude’s Hospital, Memphis Record Pressing, The Gospel Broadcasting Network, and FedEx. Perhaps one of his most notable accomplishments is having been commissioned by Marvel Entertainment to create a series of graphic t-shirts, which were made available for purchase at Wal-Mart.

Having seen some of his previous design work online, a recruiter for Epic Games contacted Washington about an open position. After competing with some of the best designers in the world, Washington was awarded the position as Brand Designer for the popular online game Fortnite.

“The moral of the story, said Washington, is really to never give up on your dreams and continue to hustle and put yourself out there. I was very active on LinkedIn, connecting with people whose work I admired. It’s not enough to just make cool stuff; you have to put yourself out there. It’s only after you promote yourself that you can start to see jobs fall into your lap, just like this one did,” Washington added.

Washington holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design from Freed Hardeman University, and a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Creative Advertising from Academy of Art University.

Aside from being a husband and father of four children, Washington is a faithful member of the Cordova Church of Christ, in Cordova Tennessee, and a volunteer preacher and teacher of the gospel.

Adding Aaron Washington as adjunct faculty is part of our goal to develop a world class Digital Media Program at Faulkner University.
