After graduating from Faulkner in 2017, Jared Kelly is now the youth and family minister at Timberlane church of Christ in Tallahassee, Florida.
Kelly was asked to speak to students as an honorary alumnus for the V.P. Black College of Biblical Studies‘ Marketplace Faith Friday Forums.
He shared how his education at Faulkner prepared him for ministry.
“Faulkner helped me connect with multiple people that had a positive impact on my life. Not only did a Bible education with Faulkner teach me how to effectively study the Bible on my own, but it also gave me multiple opportunities to start my career into ministry,” Kelly said. “The greatest thing the professors at Faulkner did for me was often outside the classroom. There were multiple times I was wrestling with something in my faith and I needed someone to talk to give me encouragement or wisdom. That has impacted me in my profession more than anything else.”
Kelly graduated with a degree in youth and family ministry and has been serving as the youth and family minister at the Timberlane church of Christ in Tallahassee, Florida for the past three and half years. He is married to Whitney Davidson Kelly.
“My goal as a youth minister is to help nurture the faith of my students, and to help them in their walk as disciples of Jesus,” Kelly said. “Working with young people that are passionate about God is incredibly rewarding. My favorite part of my job is when I can create lessons and classes to challenge kids to take the next step in their faith.”
