Land The Internship Of Your Dreams With These Pointers

If you’re planning to apply to internships in Alabama, you may be thinking, “How can I stand out in a pool of applicants?” At Faulkner University, we strive to help our students land internships that can enrich their lives in college and beyond. That’s why we offer the following tips for acquiring an internship.

Take Advantage of Career Services

When you need help finding the right internship opportunities or assistance with crafting a winning resume, visit Faulkner University’s Career Resource Center. We’re available Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., to support you as you work toward meeting your internship goals. Career Services also provides help with resume writing, interviewing and networking, so you can learn everything you need to know to apply to internships with confidence.

Don’t Apply to Every Internship

When you go to apply for internships, there’s a good chance you’ll have plenty to choose from. Oftentimes, students think that applying to an excessive number of internships will increase their odds of landing at least one. However, it’s best to focus your efforts on the prospects you are most passionate about. No matter what you do, make sure you’re qualified for the internships you apply for – otherwise, you’ll just be wasting valuable time you could have dedicated to a more fruitful opportunity.

Nail the Interview

Like any job interview, it’s better to be overprepared than underprepared. Show the company how much you really want the internship by getting to know everything about them, from their mission statement to their products and/or services. During the interview process, you’ll also want to display a willingness to learn. It’s the whole reason you applied for the internship in the first place. And as always, be prepared to ask questions.
