Born and raised in Louisiana, Julie Powell graduated from Louisiana State University in 1998 with Bachelor of Arts in mass communication with a minor in English, but soon decided it was time for a career change.

She returned to school and enrolled at Faulkner University where she graduated in 2008 with a Master’s in education in secondary English and was soon led to teach in the River Region.

After 11 years of teaching and coaching cheerleading, she moved to Elmore County’s Central Office as the Secondary English-history curriculum specialist 2016. She returned to Elmore County High School as the campus’ Instructional coach.

She and her husband Scott live in Eclectic with two daughters Gracie Ryan and Libby Claire. She enjoys reading, running, Crossfit and spending time with family.
