Say hello to your new iPad
Students enrolled in Faulkner University’s traditional program at the main campus receive an Apple iPad when they enroll (see iPad FAQs for more detailed information). The iPad is currently deployed in many higher education institutions across the United States and is changing the learning environment for many faculty and students. Faulkner University is using the iPad to inspire creative learning in and outside of the classroom.
The iPad’s benefits in the learning environment include:
- According to Apple, there are more than 20,000 educational apps available for the iPad. The iPad comes with many built-in apps, and thousands more are available from the App Store, including interactive study aids and productivity tools.
- The iPad provides students with mobile access to entire libraries, including many of the online research databases offered by Faulkner University’s Gus Nichols Library.
- Many of the e-textbook offerings include interactive images, 3D graphics and other features that will encourage student learning and engagement across disciplines.
- Faulkner University’s faculty members are also equipped with the iPad tablet. This will allow greater collaboration between the teacher and students inside and outside of the classroom. Faculty members are able to connect the iPad to state-of-the-art projectors and Apple TVs in classrooms throughout the university. This creates a truly interactive and engaging learning environment.
Faulkner is committed to using technology in a way that enhances the educational experience and provides greater value to our students.
