The Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership is designed to meet a growing regional and national demand for scholar-practitioners who can translate research into practice, lead systemic improvement, and address complex challenges in P–20 education. Educational organizations increasingly require leaders who are not only skilled in management and policy, but who also possess the analytical, ethical, and research-based competencies necessary to foster continuous improvement, equity, and innovation.

The Ed.D. in Educational Leadership builds on the university’s mission to prepare servant-leaders who integrate faith, scholarship, and professional practice. This program will extend the university’s long-standing reputation for excellence in educator preparation by providing advanced training to educational professionals who seek to influence policy, improve instructional outcomes, and lead organizational change.

This professional doctorate is a 48-credit-hour program structured specifically for working professionals in P-12 administration, higher education, and organizational leadership. All program requirements will be offered fully online, primarily through the University’s LMS (currently Canvas).

Admissions Requirements

Applicants must hold an earned master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum cumulative graduate GPA of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale. Application portfolios must include: official transcripts, three professional letters of recommendation attesting to administrative capability, a detailed professional curriculum vitae, and an analytical writing sample addressing a contemporary problem of practice. Final selection may require a formal interview with the Doctoral Admissions Committee.

Graduation Requirements

To graduate, candidates must successfully complete all 48 semester hours of prescribed doctoral coursework with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. No course grade below a ‘B’ will apply toward degree completion. Candidates must pass a comprehensive diagnostic review at the conclusion of Year 2 and successfully write, present, and orally defend their culminating Dissertation in Practice. Candidates must have no holds on any financial accounts. All financial accounts must be cleared by the Student Accounts and/or Financial Aid offices prior to receiving a diploma.
