College of Arts and Sciences

B.S. in Health Science

Are you interested in working in healthcare or public health? A Bachelor of Science in Health Science (BSHS) program offers a comprehensive foundation for students interested in health science careers.

Program Objectives

At Faulkner University, we offer three tracks for a Bachelor of Science in Health Science (BSHS) degree: Physician Assistant (PA) Track, Physical Therapist (PT) Track, and Occupational Therapy (OT) Track. Despite which track you take, the goals are the same: 

  1. Prepare students for graduate level study with a rigorous theoretical and scientific base in health sciences.
  2. Teach students the processes of the healthcare system, inter-professional practice, evidence-based practice, and bioethics.
  3. Develop students’ oral and written communication skills that are required for successful careers in the health sciences.
  4. Train students to be the hands and feet of Christ by serving individuals and their families using their health science knowledge and skills

UNDERGRADUATE
Admission Requirements
  • Must be a high school graduate with a regular or advanced diploma or have a GED certificate
  • If out of high school for less than five years, ACT (minimum 18 composite) or SAT (minimum 970) scores are required. ACT or SAT scores are not required for anyone having graduated high school more than five years ago.
  • ACT or SAT scores are not required for transfer applicants with a minimum of 24 transferable hours from a regionally accredited college or university.

Program Information

The curriculum explores the core scientific principles of the health sciences and includes in-depth coursework in medical terminology, healthcare delivery systems, industry administration and leadership, bioethics, statistics, and research.
