Program Objectives
English is a practical study that develops good communication, analytic, and persuasive skills needed for professions like public relations, politics, technical writing, marketing, and journalism. It’s an excellent major for those wanting to attend law school, and English teachers are in high demand. Faulkner’s English department combines reflective reading of compelling literature with writing and speech—all taught from a Christian perspective. The result is students who have a deep understanding of the human experience and who are literate, responsible citizens. Our students possess the necessary skills for the next level of education and a variety of promising careers. The Department of English at Faulkner publishes Images in Ink, an annual creative arts publication including works by students, faculty, and staff.

Admission Requirements
- Must be a high school graduate with a regular or advanced diploma or have a GED certificate
- If out of high school for less than five years, ACT (minimum 18 composite) or SAT (minimum 970) scores are required. ACT or SAT scores are not required for anyone having graduated high school more than five years ago.
- ACT or SAT scores are not required for transfer applicants with a minimum of 24 transferable hours from a regionally accredited college or university.
