With a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, Rachel currently teaches 3rd grade Reading, English Language Arts, and Social Studies at New Brockton Elementary School in Coffee County, Alabama. Her passion for education is fueled by the belief that a good teacher can change everything, and she\u2019s dedicated to helping her students thrive.Raised in Elba, Alabama, Rachel\u2019s journey to becoming an educator began early, with a strong foundation of faith and community. As a graduate of Zion Chapel High School, she always knew she wanted to give back to her community. After attending Faulkner University, her path to teaching became clearer, especially through her involvement with Delta Xi Omega, where she served as Jamboree Coordinator for a year. She also became President of the Education Honor Society, Kappa Delta Pi, and served as a Welcome Week Mentor for incoming students.For Rachel, her time at Faulkner wasn\u2019t just about academic success \u2013 it was about preparing to make a meaningful impact as a Christian educator. \u201cAttending college at Faulkner has been my absolute favorite memory,\u201d she shares. \u201cHaving a Christian-based education made all the difference as I transitioned to the real world. Faulkner instilled in me that with faith, I can achieve any goal I set for myself. Faulkner didn\u2019t just prepare me for a career; it prepared me for life as a Christian woman.\u201dAt New Brockton Elementary School, Rachel works with a diverse group of students, including a large number of English Language Learners. This influx of multilingual students adds a unique challenge to her work, but Rachel embraces it. \u201cI truly enjoy teaching my students how to improve their reading skills through comprehension and writing,\u201d she says. \u201cI want them to feel confident in their abilities and become the best version of themselves.\u201d Her goal is simple: to ensure that every student in her classroom not only meets their academic goals but also feels seen, heard, and supported.Rachel attributes much of her success to the educators who shaped her time at Faulkner University. \u201cMy professors at Faulkner modeled what it means to be a caring and nurturing teacher,\u201d she explains. \u201cThey taught me that every child deserves a champion \u2013 someone who never gives up on them and who understands the power of connection.\u201d This commitment to care and support is something Rachel brings into her own classroom each day.For Rachel, teaching is not just about academics \u2013 it\u2019s about fostering growth in every aspect of her students\u2019 lives. \u201cI strive to let my students see Christ through me, because that comes before the curriculum,\u201d she shares. It\u2019s this Christ-centered approach to teaching that sets Rachel apart and allows her to form deep, lasting connections with her students.Outside the classroom, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Kevin Rachel, and chasing after her nieces and nephews, supporting them in all their extracurricular activities.
