Several representatives from both Faulkner University and Jefferson State participated in the historic signing of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) on October 31 in Birmingham.Those present were Adult and Graduate enrollment VP, Mark Hunt, Legal Studies and Criminal Justice department chair, Cathy Davis, BCJ department chair, Andre Mitchell, Faulkner President Mitch Henry, Dr. Danielle Coburn, VP of Academics for Jefferson State and Criminal Justice department chair for Jeff State Robert Bland. The agreement will facilitate a smooth transition for Jefferson State students into Faulkner’s Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies or the Bachelor of Criminal Justice degree programs.As part of the MOU, Faulkner will provide a 50-percent tuition discount for transfer students from Jefferson State.\u201cIt\u2019s a historic day for Jefferson State Community College and Faulkner University,\u201d Faulkner President D. Mitchell Henry said. \u201cThe articulation agreement we signed today will impact lives and justice administration in the state of Alabama. We are pleased to offer deep tuition discounts to Jeff State Criminal Justice graduates and allow them to seamlessly transfer their credits to Faulkner to complete their bachelor degrees. We\u2019re also pleased that students can transfer seamlessly into our American Bar Association-approved legal studies program to become certified paralegals and prep for law school.\u201cAs president, I would love to hand Jefferson State students two diplomas\u2014both for their bachelors degree or in our ABA-accredited law school, which this year is the fastest growing in America.
