Joi T. Montiel

Research & Writing Associate Professor of Law and Director of Legal Writing Program


B.S., Auburn University Montgomery; J.D., Faulkner University, Thomas Goode Jones School of Law

Joi T. Montiel joined the faculty of Jones School of Law in 2006 as an Assistant Professor of Law. Professor Montiel now serves as the Director of the Legal Research and Writing Program; she teaches Legal Research & Writing. Professor Montiel is admitted to the Alabama State Bar and is a member of the Legal Writing Institute, the Association of Legal Writing Directors, and Scribes. She serves on the Alabama State Bar Board of Editors and as an Assistant Editor for the Journal of the Legal Writing Institute.

Professor Montiel received her Juris Doctorate from Faulkner Law, graduating magna cum laude. Before accepting her teaching position at the Law School, Professor Montiel clerked for Justice Harold See, Senior Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of Alabama.
