Required Testing

Testing required of all programs:

Alabama Prospective Teacher Testing Program (AECTP)

A passing score on the AECTP is required by the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE). Both undergraduate and graduate students are required to successfully complete all three sections of this examination (Applied Mathematics, Reading for Information, and Writing-Comprehensive) prior to admission to the Teacher Education Program.

Praxis II Content Test

A passing score on the appropriate Praxis II content test is required by the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE). This test measures knowledge of the appropriate content area with minimum scores established by the State of Alabama. Tests are administered on national test dates, established by the Educational Testing Service, on designated campuses. Undergraduate students are required to successfully complete the appropriate content test before admission to the Internship Program. Graduate students are required to successfully complete the appropriate content test before admission to the Teacher Education Program.

Alabama Quality Teacher Standard Math Examination 

In order to meet all Alabama Quality Teacher Standards, the College of Education adopted a math module which both undergraduate and graduate students are required to successfully complete prior to admission to the Teacher Education Program.

Testing required of undergraduate programs:

ETS Proficiency Profile

All undergraduate students are required to take a proficiency profile examination during their sophomore year at Faulkner University. The College of Education requires that this test be successfully completed prior to admission to the Teacher Education Program.

Major Field Test

All undergraduate students are required to take an exit examination in their content area at the end of their career at Faulkner University. The College of Education requires that this test be successfully completed prior to admission to the Internship Program.

Testing required of graduate programs:

Miller Analogies Test (MAT)/Graduate Record Exam (GRE)

All graduate students are required to produce a passing score on a graduate entrance examination before their application to the Graduate Program will be considered. The College of Education will accept either the MAT or the GRE.
