When is the Writing Center open?

Our hours vary from semester-to-semester and week-to-week based on availablity. To view our schedule, please visit faulkner.mywconline.com. If you are a first time visitor, you will need to register for an account. Please note that students must register using their Faulkner email account.

How much does it cost to visit the Writing Center?

Nothing at all! Our Writing Center services are completely free of charge to all Faulkner students.

How do I make an appointment?

To view the schedule or sign up for an appointment, please visit faulkner.mywconline.com. If you are a first time visitor, you will need to register for an account. Please note that students must register using their Faulkner email account. Once your account has been created, you will be able to see our schedule. The white boxes are the available appointments. To reserve a session, simply click on a white box, fill in the required information, and then click “Save Appointment.”

How long will my session last?

A typical session lasts for 30 minutes. For quick questions and shorter assignments, the entire 30 minutes may not be necessary. For longer or more complex assignments, multiple sessions may be needed.

Who will be helping me with my writing?

Our writing coaches are Faulkner students who have been recommended by the faculty. They have demonstrated strong writing and communication skills and have been trained in effective tutoring techniques. To learn more about our staff, see our personal  bios.

Can I request a particular writing coach?

Yes. When signing up for an appointment, you can see which coaches are available and select the coach you’d like to work with. All of our coaches are trained to help you with any writing need you may have; however, we do understand that everyone has a different style of teaching and learning.

What kind of writing do you help with?

We are happy to help with any type of writing. You can bring essays, research papers, lab reports, resumes, presentations, you name it. However, it is important to note that longer documents may require multiple visits.

What kind of help will I receive?

Our writing coaches will not write or edit a document for you. However, they will assist you in the process. They will answer questions, explain concepts, provide examples, and share resources in order to help you become a more confident and capable writer.

What if I just have a quick question about my writing?

We are glad to answer any and all questions you have about writing. Just drop on by.

What should I do if I need to cancel/reschedule?

If you need to cancel an appointment, please visit faulkner.mywconline.com and login to your account. From there, find your appoint time and click on the orange box. This will open a new page with your appointment details. At the bottom of the page, you will see a button that says “Cancel This Appointment.” After canceling the appointment, be sure to find another available appointment time that works with your schedule and reserve that session.

What happens if I skip my appointment without canceling?

You will be marked as a no-show for that appointment. After the third no-show, you will be blocked from the scheduling system until you meet with the Writing Center Director.

What if I am late to my appointment?

If possible, please inform the Writing Center that you still plan to attend your session but will be arriving late. If you are a few minutes late, you may begin your session as usual. However, it will still need to end at the scheduled time if the following session is booked. If you are more than 10 minutes late, you will be marked as a no-show and your appointment may be given to the next person in line.
