Cecil May, Jr.

Dr. Cecil May Jr. was the dean of the V. P. Black College of Biblical Studies for 15 years through May 2013.  He holds a bachelor of arts degree in biblical languages from Harding University, a master of arts degree and a master of divinity degree from Harding University Graduate School of Theology.  He was awarded an honorary LL.D. from Freed-Hardeman University.  May has also served as president of Magnolia Bible College, Dean of Heritage Christian University, and Bible teacher at Columbia Christian College.  He has been a minister of the gospel for several congregations in Mississippi and one in Oregon.  He preaches and lectures extensively.

May is the editor of Preacher Talk, writes the monthly back page column “Finally Brethren” for The Gospel Advocate, and authors a “Bible Questions Answered” column in the Magnolia Messenger.  May has published one book – Bible Questions Answered published by Faulkner University’s Pillar Press, and has another in process.

“I am, practically speaking, a ‘writer in residence.’  I exercise some administrative oversight and serve on a few key university committees but have no direct administrative responsibilities.  I also promote the university wherever I lecture or preach, both in fundraising and recruitment.”
