Faulkner University was recently ranked the top university in Alabama for having the best online graduate criminal justice and criminology program according to a new report by U.S. News & World Report.

The U.S. News & World Report’s Best Online Programs Rankings listed Faulkner University among the top 20 schools nationally with a rank of 19 out of 70 total schools, and number one among four other Alabama colleges who made the list.

The ranking, for Faulkner’s Master of Justice Administration program, was based on factors such as “admissions selectivity, faculty credentials and academic and career support services offered to students” according to the report.

“We are very proud of such a high standing,” said Robert Thetford, the director for Faulkner University’s Master of Justice Administration. “The program was ranked 20 last year, so we are happy to see that we have moved up within just a year.

“Our Criminal Justice department at Faulkner University is regularly striving for excellence and you can see we are succeeding as this ranking shows.”

The Criminal Justice program at Faulkner University takes a moral and ethical instructional approach, emphasizing law enforcement, private security, corrections and pre-law.

Students enrolled online gain access to faculty members who are experts in the criminal justice field to prepare students for real-world challenges.

“We use highly qualified adjuncts who are currently working in the field as well as have a Legal Studies track that is ABA approved within our department,” said Cathy Davis, the Chair of the Criminal Justice and Legal Studies department.

Among the faculty members include an assistant director of security for a major university, retired FBI agents, retired and current law enforcement officers, State agency investigators, retired and current judges, federal investigators and probation officers, criminal law attorneys, and other criminal justice leaders.
