More than 400 Davis Elementary School students and teachers were invited to Fall Festival at Faulkner University on Friday.

There were smiles all around as the entire student body of Montgomery Public School’s  E.T. Davis Elementary School celebrated Fall Festival at Faulkner University.

Students had the chance to enjoy creating arts and crafts, throw a football, feel a snake skin and ride a hay ride on Friday. More than 400 students and teachers from Davis piled off yellow school buses and filled the Multiplex at Faulkner.

It was just another way to celebrate the positive relationship Faulkner has nurtured with children at Davis, said Leigh Woodring, coordinator of the Center for Faith, Calling and Engagement at Faulkner.

“We have really grown to love the children and teachers at Davis Elementary School and this relationship we have has shown me the good that we can create in our corner of the world,” Woodring said.

“Organizing a Fall Festival for our Davis kids to come on campus and enjoy games, a hay ride and fun with our students and staff is just another way we are making an impact and making those relationships last.”

The Center for Faith, Calling and Engagement in collaboration with Faulkner’s academic colleges and Student Life invited student and staff volunteers to host and welcome Davis Elementary for the day of fun.

Rashondra Bryant, a fourth-grade teacher at Davis, said her students were having a blast and thanked those at Faulkner for inviting them out to a day of laughter.

“Everyone was just so excited, even the teachers were excited,” Bryant said. “For some this is the first time that they have been to an actual college. For some, they’ve been to other colleges, but they are excited to return.

“It’s a great opportunity for kids to be exposed to higher education so they can keep their minds prepared for what they want to do in the future. It’s really been a blessing and Faulkner has been very committed to Davis Elementary School.”
