What is the purpose of World Mission Workshop (WMW)?
The WMW began in 1961 at Harding University and rotates each year in October to one of our sister universities. It is a workshop devoted to emphasizing mission involvement for students and churches by bringing them together with missionaries, mission teachers, and those preparing to go to the field to provide mission information and opportunities.
Benefits of the WMW:
The WMW brings in mission personnel with decades of mission experience to encourage a greater vision for missions, to provide valuable insights into missions training, to make available resources for effective service, to enhance access to mission personnel and to recognize the need for entering into Christ's mission in the world.
This event is one of the few venues where students have personal contact with many people highly involved in missions among Churches of Christ, including current missionaries, previous missionaries, mission teachers, church leaders in missions, and people involved in various outreach programs, both domestically and cross-culturally. It also allows students to interact with other students who have mutual interests in missions. Students are able to talk with missionaries, past and present, about mission work on a one-on-one basis and listen to presentations about areas where missionaries are serving. This helps to heighten the awareness of the need for missions and to increase people's excitement in serving and partnering in mission work somewhere.
