A warm welcome to this course on the the Book of Acts.
The study of the Book of Acts will comprise the time period in the first
century from the A. D. 30 to the early 60s. Acts is unique in the
New Testament in that traces specific events of the rise of Christianity
within the Roman empire. It begins with the ascension of Jesus back
to heaven and ends with Paul's imprisonment (house arrest) in Rome.
The book of Acts is often called the Acts of the Apostles and it does record the preaching and teaching of some of the apostles. Primarily it follows the ministry of Peter and then Paul. Someone has suggested that the Acts of the Apostles should be called the Acts of the Holy Spirit because the book shows how the Holy Spirited guided the apostles and prophets in proclaiming the gospel message and planting churches in the Roman empire. I hope you find yourself challenged in this course while finding yourself strengthen in faith and enlightened by this unique and inspiring book. |
