Smart Growth Seminar - Emerson:  Read suburban nation pp. 215-243; Read new urbanism: comprehensive report and best practices guide pp. 11-2 thru 11-13 (available on reserve in the library); prepare a minimum three page report outlining the different types of laws and regulations (including citations to specific examples) that affect land planning and development as well as smart growth alternatives to those laws and regulations.  Be concise yet thorough.

Wills and Trusts - Nelson: At the initial class meeting, we will discuss the organization of the course, the way in which we will proceed with our discussion, and my expectations.  We will then move to a discussion of the power to transmit property at death, including Hodel v. Irving (p. 3) and Shapira v. Union National Bank (p. 21).  Read pp. 1-30.
