A BIG “THANK YOU” FOR HELP WITH CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS
You’ve probably noticed the festive, seasonal look in the library. The library staff would like to gratefully thank the Student Bar Association and the Women Students Association for their generous contributions that helped make our decorations possible.
WE WANT YOUR OPINION ON
During the coming year the library plans to purchase some new study carrels that have built-in lights and power plugs for your laptop. We also want to add new, more comfortable chairs throughout the entire library! Three sample chairs are now on display at the front of the library. Drop by, take a “trial sit,” and help us by ranking the chairs. We appreciate your input!
LIBRARY SETS HOURS DURING FINALS
As usual, the library will operate on extended hours for the final exam period. Our hours from Thursday December 4 through Wednesday December 17 will be:
Monday through Thursday
Friday
Saturday
Sunday
Please remember to be courteous to other library patrons during this sometimes-stressful period. Everyone can help by paying special attention to library policies – including keeping things quiet, following the group study room reservation procedures (see next page), and taking all cell phone calls outside the library.

FOR A STUDY BREAK, CHECK OUT OUR
If the pressure of finals gets too intense, spend a few minutes reading something of interest to you. Our library staff regularly compiles a list of our new acquisitions. Check the highlights (complete with description and illustration) or the full list at:

We also have newspapers and other casual reading materials on the shelves in the front part of the first floor in the atrium reading area. Take a look when you have a minute to relax!
FOR GROUP STUDY, RESERVE A GROUP STUDY
Looking for a place that your study group can meet? Try one of the library’s second floor group study rooms. Using a group study room also helps reduce the noise level for others who are studying in the library. Just follow these procedures:
- A group (i.e., 2 or more students) may reserve a group study room for a maximum of a single 2 hour time block
- A group may reserve only one group study room for one 2-hour block per day – but a group may remain in a room beyond the 2 hour reservation period if no other group has signed up
- To reserve a room, contact the library circulation desk in person or by telephone (386-7219) and give your name, another group member’s name, and the requested reservation time
- Keep group study room doors closed and hold conversation to a reasonable level
- If a group study room is left unoccupied (i.e., not occupied by at least 2 students) for 10 minutes during a reserved time block the room will be considered vacated, allowing another group to reserve the room (leaving personal effects in a room is not occupation)
- Direct any questions to a member of the library staff
- For the group study room policy, see /jsl/library/groupstudy.asp
- To view all library policies, see /jsl/library/policies.asp
The library staff – and your fellow students – thank you for your cooperation!
