SO YOU WANT TO BE A LABOR AND EMPLOYMENT LAW LAWYER?

Are you are interested in becoming a labor and employment law lawyer?  If so, complement your legal education by taking advantage of some of the law library’s excellent resources in this area.  Foremost is the BNA Labor & Employment Law Library, the online successor to BNA’s highly respected labor and employment law print looseleaf.   Whether print looseleafs or the online equivalents, research tools like these aim to be a one-stop shop for busy practitioners who need to stay abreast of highly complex areas of law.  In one convenient resource, BNA has collected labor and employment law related content including statutes, cases, commentary, practice aids, regulations, and other administrative sources.  In that the print looseleaf provided advance sheets for 6 standard reporters in this area (Americans with Disabilities Cases, Fair Employment Practices Cases, Individual Employment Rights Cases, Labor Arbitration Decisions, Labor Relations Reference Manual, and Wages & Hours Cases), it comes as no surprise that BNA’s online database integrates the looseleaf content with full access to the decisional law of these 6 reporters.  Included in the practice aids section are checklists, forms, and model client letters and memos.  Browsing and Terms and Connectors Searching are both available as options for accessing the content.  BNA’s outstanding reputation is well-deserved, as their editors are among the finest in legal publishing.  You may also be interested in their daily email highlights on labor and employment law such as the BNA Daily Labor Report, the Employment Discrimination Report, and many more.  Just contact one of the reference librarians to take advantage of this daily email alert service.

Additionally, the law library furnishes access to Cornell’s Industrial and Labor Relations Review, an interdisciplinary periodical affording holistic treatment of the employment relationship.  If you need assistance with these or other library resources, please ask our reference librarians.
