Exhausted Eagles can't hang on

Sept. 28, 2007

Mt. Berry, Ga. - After going to five games with Reinhardt only an hour before, a tired Faulkner team arrived at Berry College to face one of the toughest opponents of the year. The Eagles had some highs and lows, but in the end the Vikings proved dominant and took the match 16-30, 36-34, 17-30, 27-30.

“They just outplayed us in games one and three,” head coach Tori Bartels said. “We struggled with our block and just didn’t make things happen. I would have liked to have played them with fresh legs.”

Marci Lobendahn finished the match with 13 kills followed by Holly Hutcheson with 12. Hutcheson also had 18 digs and 2 aces against the Vikings. Libero Carrie Bulter added 22 digs.

“We will see them again later in the year,” Bartels added. "We always look forward to playing them.”

The Eagles move to 13-6 on the season and will face Shorter College in another conference match tomorrow in Rome, Ga. The event is set for 10 a.m. central time.
