Wolfpack overpowers Eagles
Oct. 19, 2007
Montgomery, Ala. – An exhausted and injury burdened Eagles team took the floor tonight against the Wolfpack of Loyola University. Faulkner had been anxiously awaiting the rematch with Loyola since their second match of the season. Loyola was Faulkner’s only non-conference region loss of the season and the Eagles were looking to even the score tonight and leap into the fourth position on the Region XIII standings. The Wolfpack had fresh legs however, and the determination to prove that their first win wasn’t a lucky one. Loyola ran a consistent offense and scrappy defense and shut the Eagles down in three games 30-23, 30-25, 30-23.

The Eagles played the match with several wounded weapons. Carrie Butler, Marci Lobendahn and Holly Hutcheson all played with restrained injures. Having two of three senior leaders unable to play at full potential took its toll on the team and there was simply not enough energy left to rally back.

The team is frustrated, wounded and upset with the day’s performances to say the least, but that will not keep this program down. Since day one the team motto has been, “To God be the glory and play with no regrets.” If the team has proven anything this season it’s just that. Look for the Eagles to learn from today’s matches and come out swinging tomorrow as they face Southern Wesleyan and region powerhouse Mobile. The games will be held in the Tine Davis Gymnasium at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. respectively.
