Montgomery, Ala. – The Eagles are hosting the annual Faulkner Invitational tournament this weekend with a total of 10 teams playing four matches each in two days. The Eagles opened play this morning with the Falcons of Florida College. The Falcons started game one with a great lead as the Eagles struggled to put points together. After a few rotations however, the Eagles found their rhythm and rallied to take game one. Faulkner continued the pace and eliminated the Falcons in three games 30-25, 30-21, 30-18.

Senior Brittany Harden led the Eagles with 14 kills, while freshman Lauren Middleton added 7 kills and three blocks. Senior libero Carrie Butler had 11 digs and continues to close in on the Faulkner volleyball career dig record.

The Eagles will also face Freed-Hardeman University today at 4 p.m. The Lady Lions come in to the tournament with an impressive 16-1 record on the season. Freed faced Southeastern University in the first round of play and took the match in three games. The Faulkner-Freed matchup will be the game to watch during the Invitational. Faulkner head volleyball coach Tori Bartels is a Freed-Hardeman graduate and played for head coach Todd Humphry. The two coaches are in high spirits as usual about the matchup and look forward to the event this afternoon.
