Eagles take three in Daytona

Daytona, Fla. – The Eagles knocked off Baker University in the first round of the Homewood Suites Invitational and faced three more top notch programs thereafter. Faulkner faced tournament host Embry-Riddle in the second round of play and held their own until a deflating game four. The Eagles lost to the home team 23-25, 23-25, 25-18, 7-25.
Mountain State University and Martin Methodist lie in wait for Faulkner on day two. The Cougars proved easy pray and the Eagles took the match in three straight 25-11, 25-22, 25-9. Martin Methodist is ranked among the nation’s top programs heading into the season, but Faulkner came prepared and took the match in four games 25-16, 22-25, 25-13, 25-13.
The Eagles will host conference rival Shorter College on Tuesday, Sept. 2 at home in their first SSAC contest of the season. The match is set for 6 p.m.
