Faulkner freshman pitcher Emily Jimmerson was rewarded recently for her remarkable first season of collegiate softball, being named  honorable mention NAIA All-American.

Jimmerson was an all-state performer at The Lakeside School in Eufaula, and took up at the collegiate level right where she left off in high school. She posted a 17-9 overall record with a 1.53 earned run average. She struck out 169 batters during the season, holding opponents to a .190 batting average.

“She did a great job as a freshman coming in,’’ Faulkner head softball coach Hal Wynn said. “She mixed up her pitches really well. We knew she would come in and be good, but she did even better than we expected.’’

She was named the Southern States Athletic Conference’s pitcher of the year and was also a first-team all-conference and all-region selection.
