Eagles blister the Bulldogs

Montgomery, Ala. – The Eagles took on NCAA Division III opponent Adrian College in a doubleheader on Friday. The Eagles took charge early in game one putting up three runs in the first inning and went on to blast the Bulldogs 7-0.

Kana Irwin took control of the mound in the game making her first start of the season. The sophomore gave up only two hits, while striking out five batters over five innings. Senior pitcher Cheryl Lavarnway finished game one striking out four batters in two innings.

Junior Katie Godfrey had a strong presence at the plate finishing the game 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs. Sophomore Shauna Suttle was also 2-for-4 and sophomore Courtney Barber went 1-for-3 with three RBIs and a home run. The home run was the first of Barber’s career.


The win put the Eagles at 4-5 on the year and was the second largest win by margin of the season.
