Barber earns Player of the Week honor

Courtney Barber was named Player of the Week in the SSAC's first selection of the season. Barber had an outstanding week as the Eagles took on conference rival and No. 11 Lee in a doubleheader on Thursday before heading to Orange Beach, Ala., to compete in the Gulf Coast Invitational. The sophomore batted .417 (15-36) with a slugging average of .944 and added 11 RBIs, seven scored runs and six home runs. Five of the eight teams the Eagles faced this week were either ranked nationally or in the receiving votes category.
Barber hit a walk-off home run against Lee in game one of the doubleheader as well as a game tying 3-run shot in the eighth inning against Ohio Dominican in the Invitational. The Eagles went on to win the game 12-11.
