Now walk it out: Eagles stun No. 11 Lee with walk-off homer

March 13, 2008
Montgomery, Ala. – Faulkner University hosted No. 11 Lee this afternoon in a doubleheader at the softball complex. Game one was a fast paced ride that left both teams scoreless until the bottom of the seventh when Faulkner’s Courteny Barber hit a walk-off homer for the 1-0 win.

Emily Jimmerson once again had the mound in game one for the Eagles. The freshman gave a brilliant performance allowing only three hits over seven innings, while striking out 10 hitters. Jimmerson also had a three-pitch inning in the sixth.

The Eagles tallied five hits and two came by way of sophomore shortstop Eden Harris who finished the game 2-for-3. Jennifer Ellisor and Shauna Suttle each went 1-for-3, but no hit was bigger than sophomore Courtney Barber’s walk-off home run with one out in the bottom of the seventh. It was Barber’s second home run of the season.

The Eagles will look to close the series with another win in game two. The team has split their last four series. The Eagles are now 8-9 overall and 2-1 in the conference.
