Faulkner falls to William Carey
Feb. 26, 2008
Montgomery, Ala. – Faulkner dropped its first two games of the season to William Carey, both by a score of 2-1. The Eagles entered their rematch with the Crusaders looking to make up for the mistakes they made in the doubleheader and push the win column to four consecutive games. William Carey, however, proved strong at the plate and on the mound, while the Eagles struggled on defense and failed to take advantage of runners in scoring position. Though the Eagles were able to quiet the Crusader bats as the game progressed and put up a run late in the game William Carey was able to hang on for their third straight victory over the Eagles this season with a final score of 4-1.

After William Carey put up three runs in the first two innings and the Eagles began looking for a counter to the Crusader attack. The answer came from pitcher Samantha Kendrick. “Samantha did a good job for us,” head coach Hal Wynn said. The sophomore gave up only one run the remainder of the game.
Faulkner struggled at the plate as well and when runners did get on base the Eagles couldn’t find a way to bring them home. “We need to be more consistent in our hitting,” Wynn added. “You can’t hit in one game and not in the next.”

The Eagles will take on NCAA Division III Adrian College out of Michigan in a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 3 p.m. at home. The Bulldogs are currently 2-1, but will face Reinhardt College and Emory University this week before rounding out their southern tour with Faulkner. On Saturday the Eagles will face William Carey for the final time this season. The doubleheader is set for 2 p.m. at the Faulkner Softball Complex.
