Jimmerson scattered seven hits and struck out 10 for the Eagles, but it was how she battled back from a tough start to the bottom of the sixth inning that proved to be the difference. The Eagles led 5-0 into the sixth, but an error and five straight hits brought the Knight Hawks to within 5-3. With nobody out and the bases loaded, the sophomore ended the threat by striking out the side.

“Sometimes you find out more about a pitcher when she’s in trouble than you do when she’s just cruising along,’’ said Faulkner coach Hal Wynn about Jimmerson, an honorable mention NAIA All-American last season. “I was proud of how she battled back. It was good win for us.’’

Eden Harris had two hits and two runs scored for the Eagles, who got three hits each from Jennifer Ellisor and Courtney Barber. Faulkner jumped on top in the top of the first when Harris scored on a Katie Godfrey double, and added its final four runs in the second. Two Thomas errors in the inning aided the Eagles’ cause.
