Faulkner University hosted No. 12 Shorter College in a Southern States Athletic Conference doubleheader Friday afternoon. The Eagles stunned the visitors 3-2 in a seventh inning rally in game one, but failed to make it a repeat, dropping the second event 3-0.

The game was tied at two apiece heading into the bottom of the seventh when Shorter made a pitching change. Brittany Hardmon laid down a bunt to advance the runner at first, but an infield error resulted in two runners in scoring position. Freshman Haley Munroe ripped a single bringing in the game-winning run.

Haley Munroe was an impressive 3-for-4 with the winning RBI in the opener. Jennifer Ellisor and Eden Harris were both 2-for-3 and Ellisor added an RBI.
Emily Jimmerson (14-8) got the win allowing only two earned runs and added six strikeouts.

The Hawks rebounded in the second game. Solid pitching and an alert defense kept the Eagles off the scoreboard.

Faulkner (21-20, 13-11 SSAC) will host No. 19 Lee University in a conference doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m.
