Picture perfect; Eagles blank Lady Warriors in opener

Faulkner opened their conference doubleheader this afternoon in spectacular fashion. Southern Wesleyan had no answer for the Eagles on either side of the ball. Emily Jimmerson stuck out 11 batters in route to a perfect game and Courtney Barber sealed the deal with a walk-off two-run blast in the bottom of the seventh inning for the 2-0 win.

Barber finished the game 1-for-3 with a pair of game-winning RBIs. Haley Munroe was 2-for-3 and Jessica Tumlinson went 1-for-2.

Jimmerson moved to 13-7 on the season with today's shutout. It was the sophomore's second no-hitter and first perfect game of her college career.

Just prior to the start of the event, the team honored its seniors in a special Senior Day presentation. Katie Godfrey, Brittany Hardmon and Jessica Tumlinson have all been with the team for four years. The three seniors were recognized for their outstanding contributions to the softball program over the last four seasons.
