Faulkner hosted Emmanuel College in a conference doubleheader Friday afternoon at the softball complex. After making quick work of the Lady Lions 9-1 in the five-inning opener, the Eagles took the nightcap 4-1. The sweep marked the team’s fourth straight in the Southern States Athletic Conference and extended their winning streak to eight games.

    The Eagles posted nine runs in just four innings in the opener. Brittany Hardmon anchored the offensive eruption with a three-run blast in the fourth inning.

    Haley Munroe, Jessica Tumlinson, Katie Godfrey, Erin Pierce and Hardmon were all 2-for-3 in the first game. Hardmon finished with three RBIs. Pierce had two RBIs and Godfrey had one.

    Emily Jimmerson (12-7) tallied seven strikeouts in just five innings, while giving up only four hits and one earned run.

    Faulkner put up another home run in the fourth inning of the second game courtesy of Shauna Suttle. Suttle was 2-for-3 in the second event.

    Cynthia Batchelor and Katie Godfrey were both 1-for-3 with an RBI each and Jennifer Ellisor was 1-for-1 with a scored run.

    Katy Wiggins (4-7) picked up her fourth win of the year the second game. The sophomore gave up only four hits and one earned run, while striking out six batters in her seven-inning performance.

    Faulkner (19-16, 11-7 SSAC) will host Southern Wesleyan in conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon beginning at noon. It will be Senior Day for the Eagles and the team will honor its three seniors in a short ceremony before the first game.
