Faulkner's Jimmerson, Wynn honored at softball banquet

Faulkner freshman pitcher Emily Jimmerson was voted the Southern States Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year and Hal Wynn was named the Coach of the Year at the annual softball banquet in Rome, Ga., Wednesday night.
Jimmerson joined pitcher Cheryl Lavarnway and first baseman Courtney Barber on the all-conference first team, while catcher Katie Godfrey and outfielder Brittany Hardmon made the second team. Wynn, who won the 500th game of his career this season, led the Eagles to a second-place finish in the SSAC standings a No. 19 national ranking.
All-freshman team honors went to Emily Jimmerson, Jennifer Ellisor, Katy Wiggins and Cynthia Batchelor.
Making the all-academic team were sophomores Kana Irwin and Eden Harris, and junior Jessica Tumlinson.
The Eagles face Brenau in the SSAC softball tournament's first round Thursday morning at 1 p.m.
