Eagles drop late decision to Warriors
October 14
Faulkner hosted Southern Wesleyan University in Southern States Athletic Conference game Tuesday evening. After a scoreless first period the Eagles found the back of the net first in the second half. The Warriors fought back from the deficit however, and took the contest 2-1 late in the outing.
Joey Gorman took the first strike of the game hitting a beautiful shot on a rope from about 35 yards out. The goal put the Eagles on top with 28 minutes to play.
Southern Wesleyan answered however, in the 76th minute to tie the event. Then just three minutes later the Warriors drilled home a penalty kick to seal the game.
Goalkeeper Kevin Saxby allowed two goals and had eight saves.
The loss dropped the Eagles to 4-7 on the year and 0-5 in the league. Faulkner will travel to Mt. Berry, Georgia, on Saturday to take on former conference rival Berry College. The Vikings are 6-2-3 on the year.
