Blue-White Game to have honorary coaches

April 22, 2008

Faulkner’s first Blue-White Game, set for Saturday morning at 10 at Cramton Bowl, will feature a pair of honorary coaches walking the sidelines.

Head coach Jim Nichols and his staff will honor those who have played an integral role in the development of the football program each year during the spring game. This year’s honorees are Keith Mock, Faulkner’s Director of Admissions, and Faires Austin, Faulkner’s Dean of Students. Mock will be the honorary coach of the White team, while Austin will help guide the Blue team.

“We really want our faculty and staff to be involved with our program, and to see what goes on around the players and on the sideline during a game,’’ Nichols said. “Also, we think it will be fun for them as well. We might even let them call a play or two. But the main thing we wanted to do was honor them for what they’ve done for the program.’’

There is no admission charge to the 100-play scrimmage. The main Madison Avenue gate will be the only gate open for the game, and all fans will sit on the press box side of Cramton Bowl.
