Eagles' offense continues to improve
As Faulkner inches closer to its inaugural football game on Sept. 1 at Pikeville (Ky.) the Eagles continued to make strides offensively, according to head coach Jim Nichols. Faulkner practiced for a couple of hours Friday before taking some time off over the weekend in preperation for game week.
"It was a good practice,'' Nichols said. "The offense really responded well to what the defense was doing. The quarterbacks, receivers and running backs all practiced well. I think the defense is still a bit ahead, but I think by the time we leave for Pikeville we'll be in good shape.''
Nichols added that game-week workouts will be concentrating on the Pikeville game plan. The Faulkner staff has compiled a two-deep depth chart, and next week the Eagles will work against its scout team to prepare for it's opener.
Faulkner coaches are headed to Webber College this weekend to scout their second opponent, which comes to Cramton Bowl on Sept. 15 to face the Eagles in their home opener.
