With their inaugural season opener against Pikeville (Ky.) only a week and a half away the Faulkner Eagles continue to show improvement and determination.
"We had a great practice tonight," said head coach Jim Nichols. "The Pikeville game is getting closer and the players are getting serious." Nichols noted that both the offense and defense look strong and that special teams continues to improve. "We worked on a lot of special teams tonight," he added. "We know that games can be decided with special teams, and we believe we can win games if it comes to that."
Kickers Josh Medley and James Huff have been performing well at the place-kicker position and Justin Wright, who has also been practicing at the quarterback position, has begun to show promise in the kicking department as well. Nichols hopes to name a place-kicker next week.
Free safty Duron Robinson and center Caleb Bagley are back practicing with the first teams after missing several due to injuries. "We're still dealing with injuries," said Nichols, "but we're hoping to have more guys back next week."
Practices remain closed to the public.
