Uriarte leads Eagles past No. 24 Mobile

MOBILE -- Jon Uriarte scored 17 points to lead No. 23 Faulkner to a 62-54 victory over No. 24 Mobile on Thursday.

Perhaps Uriarte's biggest basket was the first one of the second half, which gave the Eagles a 31-30 lead. They didn't trail the rest of the way.

Mobile led 30-29 at the half after shooting 58 percent in the first half. In the second half, Faulkner held the Rams to 28 percent shooting. The Eagles committed only nine turnovers in the game, with only two coming in the second half.

"I thought we played really hard all night," Faulkner coach Jim Sanderson said. "Uriarte played hard on both ends of the court in the second half."

Faulkner hit 12 of 15 free throws in the final 10 minutes to clinch the win.

Jammie Evans had 10 points for the Eagles.

Trey Rubin led Mobile with 11.

Faulkner (2-0) will host William Carey on Saturday at 7 p.m. Mobile fell to 2-1.
