Eagles annihilate Vikings

Aaron Greenwood sinks two of his team-leading 16 points

Montgomery, Ala. – The Faulkner basketball program hosted its second consecutive conference game of the season today against the Vikings of Berry College. The Eagles entered today’s game coming off a big win over conference rival Shorter and looked to make it two in a row. Faulkner put pressure on Berry from the tipoff and simply out paced and out played the Vikings for two periods. Faulkner improves to 2-0 in the SSAC after blasting Berry 83-61.

Brent "BJ" Jennings lays in two points

     Berry hit only four of their 21 shots in the first half accumulating a mere nine points from the floor. The Vikings were able to fetch 20 more points from the free throw line and trailed the Eagles by 20 at the half.

Brandon Vaughn gets two of his 13 points

     The second period proved little more effective for the Vikings as the Eagles continued to dominate the court. Junior forward Aaron Greenwood led the floor in scoring. He tallied 16 points, six rebounds and one assist for the Eagles and was eight for eight from the line. Senior forward Brandon Vaughn had 13 points, four rebounds and a pair of assists, while sophomore guard Josh Gholston dropped in 11 points and added three boards.

De Hereford fights through the Viking defense for a pair of points

     Faulkner buried the Vikings by 22 points and look to continue the streak on Monday against the 6-1 Red Hawks of Martin Methodist. Who is the only team to defeat the Red Hawks this season? Berry College. The two teams have played twice this season splitting the contests between them. The Vikings claimed game one 76-72, while the Red Hawks took game two 85-79.

     Look for a great matchup in the Tine W. Davis Gymnasium on Monday, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m. as the Eagles take on the Red Hawks.
