Faulkner suffers first loss

 

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- William Carey scored the last eight points to hand Faulkner its first loss of the season, defeating the Eagles 78-70 on Monday.

After the Eagles'Brandon Vaughn hit a 3-pointer to tie the game at 70 with 2:14 left, Faulkner committed three turnovers and the Crusaders made eight free throws down the stretch.

The Eagles committed 26 turnovers in the game and William Carey made 25 of 31 free throws to Faulkner's 3-of-6.

Jarekus Singleton scored 15 of his 22 points in the second half for the Crusaders (3-2).

Vaughn and Jamie Evans led Faulkner with 12 points each and Jon Uriarte added 10.

The Eagles (7-1) will host AUM at 7 p.m. Thursday.
