Mobile took control early and fought off numerous Faulkner runs to escape Tine Davis Gymnasium with a 75-72 victory in the Eagles’ season opener.

Faulkner led 4-2 early, but Mobile scored the next five points and never trailed again. The lead ballooned to 14 later in the half, and the Rams led by five at halftime.
 
The Eagles got to within one early in the second half before Mobile (3-0) stretched it out again. The Rams led by 13 with 7:13 left before Faulkner’s final push. The Eagles went on a 15-4 run to close to within two with 1:48 left, but a turnover – Faulkner had 21 on the night – slammed the door. Mobile hit four free throws down the stretch to hold on.

Faulkner (0-1) was paced by Randell Moore’s 15 points, while Chris Palmore added 14. Mobile got 17 points from Ji Kimbrough and 13 apiece from Donte Walker and Matthew Turner.
