Faulkner avenged a season-opening loss to Mobile, battling from behind in the second half to knock off the Rams 48-43 Monday night at Tine Davis Gymnasium.

The Eagles didn’t lead in the game until the final seven minutes, with Reggie Dupree’s jumper giving Faulkner its first advantage at 42-40 with 6:58 left. Andrew Williams made a couple of big steals late in the game, and added a basket of his own, as Faulkner ended a three-game losing streak with the victory.

“This team really has been struggling and we needed a win badly,’’ Faulkner head coach Jim Sanderson said. “I thought late in the game our guys really got after it, and I was proud of the effort.’’

Faulkner’s Josh Gholston and Reggie Dupree led the Eagle attack with 14 points apiece. Derrell Moreaux had 11 points to pace the Rams (9-3). Faulkner (9-7) forced 20 turnovers and won despite shooting just 42 percent from the field. Mobile made only 40 percent of its shots.
