Faulkner Names New Hitting Coach
The Faulkner University Eagles have hired a new hitting coach for the 2006 season. Jon Mitchell comes to Faulkner after spending the 2005 season at Jefferson State Community College in Birmingham. “Coach Mitchell is not a stranger to success and is a great asset to our program,” said Andy Priola, Head coach of the eagles. “We look forward to seeing great things from him.” At Jefferson State, Mitchell instructed the infielders who fielded a league best .978. Coach Mitchell also instructed the pitchers and catchers who posted a league best opposing batting average of .178. While at Young Harris, Mitchell coached the catchers and hitters. The 2004 team set the single season record for wins winning 50 out of 56 games and a final record of 52-8.
