August 8, 2008
Former Faulkner pitcher Brent DeFoor, who recently signed a free agent contract with the Chicago White Sox organization, is off to a great start with the Bristol Sox in Bristol, Va. The 6-1, 175-pound righthander is 1-0 with three saves in 11 innings of relief work, having recorded 15 strikeouts for the rookie league team competing in the Appalachian League.
DeFoor pitched masterfully for the Eagles during his collegiate career, amassing 19 wins over the past two seasons with an earned-run average of 3.64. Faulkner's top conference starter, he was selected to the All-Southern States Athletic Conference first team following the 2007 season and was a second-team selection in 2008.

"We're proud of Brent and the job he's done with the White Sox organization,'' Faulkner head baseball coach and athletic director Brent Barker said. "He has always been a workhorse.''
Barker also reported that Faulkner players Austin Adams and Kevin Leslie, both chosen in the recent Major League Baseball Amateur Draft, have decided to not sign professional contracts and will return to Faulkner for the 2009 season.
